NGPass Driving Academy · Your lessons
Terms and conditions.
Clear information about booking, paying for and attending driving lessons with NGPass Driving Academy. Please read these terms before booking and contact us if anything is unclear.
01 · Your agreement
About these terms
These terms cover driving lessons supplied by NGPass Driving Academy in Nottingham and the surrounding areas. Any specific arrangements, including the lesson price, duration and meeting point, will be confirmed when your booking is agreed.
Instructor training or another service with separate terms will be identified before you book. Nothing in these terms takes away your legal consumer rights.
02 · Before your first lesson
Your licence and eligibility
Lessons take place in an automatic vehicle. You must hold a valid licence that permits you to drive the vehicle during the lesson and meet the applicable age and legal requirements.
Bring your physical driving licence to your first lesson and whenever a further check is requested. Tell NGPass Driving Academy promptly about any restriction, disqualification or change that affects your entitlement to drive.
GOV.UK driving-licence check. Before your first lesson, NGPass Driving Academy checks your driving record through the official DVLA service on GOV.UK, with your permission. You must provide a valid licence check code and the last eight characters of your driving licence number so we can confirm your driving entitlement and check for relevant restrictions.
Use GOV.UK to generate your licence check code and share it with NGPass Driving Academy before your first lesson. A code is valid for 21 days and can be used only once. If it has expired or already been used, please generate a new one. If your licence cannot be checked through this service, contact us before booking so we can discuss an appropriate check.
You must meet the legal eyesight standard. This includes being able to read a modern car number plate from 20 metres, using glasses or contact lenses if needed. Wear any required corrective lenses throughout your driving. See the official driving eyesight rules.
03 · Planning your tuition
Booking your lessons
Book in advance and agree your lesson time, duration, pick-up point and drop-off point with NGPass Driving Academy. Lessons normally last at least two hours, unless a different arrangement is agreed.
An enquiry does not reserve a lesson. Your booking is secured when the arrangements are confirmed and the required payment is received. Tell us about your previous experience, availability and any support needs so the training can be planned appropriately.
04 · Clear payment arrangements
Prices and payment
Payment is required when booking all lessons. Payment is not accepted on the lesson day. A block booking must be paid for in full before its lessons begin.
The price and payment arrangements will be confirmed before you commit. Current options are shown on the lesson prices page.
Any new prices will be explained before you make a further booking. A price increase will not change the agreed price of lesson time already booked and paid for.
05 · When plans change
Cancelling or moving a lesson
Give at least 48 hours' notice before the scheduled start if you need to cancel or reschedule. Contact NGPass Driving Academy by WhatsApp, text, email or telephone and clearly identify the affected lesson. A written message helps both parties keep a record.
For written messages, notice is measured from the message timestamp, including evenings and weekends. You do not need to wait for a reply for your notice to count. If you cannot get through by telephone, send a written message.
With at least 48 hours' notice, you can rearrange the lesson subject to availability. If you cancel it, its unused payment will be refunded or retained as credit if you prefer.
For less than 48 hours' notice or a missed lesson, a charge may apply up to the lesson price. It will reflect the reasonable loss caused by the cancellation, allowing for costs saved and any replacement booking. NGPass Driving Academy will take reasonable steps to reduce that loss and explain the calculation if requested.
The separate statutory cancellation rights described below take priority where they apply.
06 · Keeping to time
Arriving late
If you are late, please contact your instructor. Your lesson will normally finish at the agreed time because another pupil may be booked afterwards. Time lost because of your lateness is charged as part of the booked session.
If your instructor is late, the lost time will be provided at an agreed time or refunded. You will not pay for teaching time that NGPass Driving Academy does not provide.
07 · If we need to rearrange
Changes made by NGPass Driving Academy
An instructor may need to cancel or change a lesson because of illness, a vehicle fault, unsafe weather or another unexpected problem. You will be told as soon as reasonably possible.
If this happens, you can choose an alternative available time or a refund for the affected lesson. If a lesson has to stop early for a reason outside your control, the unused time will be rearranged or refunded.
08 · Your remaining credit
Packages and unused lesson time
Block bookings are intended to be completed within six months of payment. Please contact NGPass Driving Academy before that period ends if illness, availability or another difficulty prevents you from using the remaining hours. An appropriate extension or refund of unused credit will be discussed; credit will not be automatically forfeited solely because six months have elapsed.
Packages are booked for the named learner. A transfer to another person requires prior agreement.
If you end a package early, the unused balance will be calculated from the amount paid, less the value of completed lessons at the agreed package rate and any reasonable cancellation charge due under section 5. A breakdown will be provided. No blanket refund administration fee applies.
Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method within 14 days of receiving your cancellation request. Any shorter legal deadline will be honoured.
09 · Your consumer rights
Statutory cancellation rights
Where your booking is a qualifying distance or off-premises service contract, you generally have a 14-day cooling-off period. For services, this ends 14 days after the day the contract is made. You can cancel without giving a reason by making a clear statement to NGPass Driving Academy.
If you want lessons to begin during this period, you must expressly request an early start. If you subsequently exercise your cancellation right, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for teaching already supplied at your request, where the legal conditions for that payment are met.
Your cancellation right is lost on full performance only where you expressly requested early performance and acknowledged that completing the service would end that right. Booking a lesson does not by itself remove your consumer rights.
For further information, see Citizens Advice on cancelling a service.
10 · Safety comes first
Fitness to drive and safe behaviour
Tell your instructor before the lesson if illness, medication, alcohol, drugs, tiredness or another condition could affect your ability to drive safely. Do not attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Wear footwear that allows safe use of the pedals.
Lessons are adapted to your abilities and support needs where reasonably possible. However, an instructor must stop or refuse driving when it would be unsafe. Explain any access or health-related needs in advance so suitable arrangements can be discussed.
Everyone must behave respectfully. Abuse, threats or conduct that creates a serious safety risk may end a lesson or the teaching arrangement. Any retained payment will be limited to teaching already provided and a reasonable loss where a cancellation charge lawfully applies. Unused future lessons will be accounted for fairly.
11 · Supervised tuition
The training vehicle
Your instructor remains responsible for supervising the training vehicle and may give urgent instructions, use the dual controls or intervene when necessary for safety. Follow safety instructions promptly.
Lesson routes, activities and the level of support are chosen to suit your progress and the conditions on the day.
12 · Preparing for test day
Driving tests and use of the car
Discuss your intended test date with NGPass Driving Academy before relying on the instructor or training vehicle being available. Lesson bookings do not automatically reserve the car for a test.
Use of the car requires agreement and depends on availability and your ability to drive safely and independently. Your instructor will explain any readiness concerns and the further preparation recommended. A fixed number of lessons does not guarantee readiness or a pass.
Test-day car use normally requires a dedicated 2–2.5 hour slot for preparation, the test and return travel. The duration and total charge will be agreed in advance, using the standard hourly lesson rate unless another arrangement is expressly agreed. The DVSA test booking fee is separate.
You are responsible for having the correct documents and a valid test booking. If DVSA changes or cancels a test, contact NGPass Driving Academy promptly. Any charge for a booked lesson or test slot will be considered under these cancellation terms, with unused payments accounted for fairly.
13 · Our responsibilities
Service standards and responsibility
NGPass Driving Academy will provide its services with reasonable care and skill. If something goes wrong, contact us so the issue can be investigated and an appropriate remedy considered.
Unexpected events may affect a lesson, but they do not automatically remove your right to a refund for services not provided. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory consumer rights remain in place.
14 · Talk to us
Communication, information and complaints
NGPass Driving Academy may contact you by telephone, text, WhatsApp or email to arrange and manage your lessons. Necessary booking records may be kept for administration and handling queries. Read the Privacy Policy for information about personal data.
For a complaint, email info@ngpassdrivingacademy.co.uk with your name, the relevant booking dates, what happened and the outcome you are seeking. Relevant records will be reviewed and a response provided. If more time or information is needed, this will be explained.
15 · Keeping you informed
Changes to these terms
Any updated terms will be dated and published here. The terms agreed when you booked continue to apply to that booking unless a change is required by law or you agree otherwise. Revised terms will be made available before you make a new booking.
